Devastating floods starting on 15th April claimed the lives of 62 people and made an estimated 60,000 people homeless in Namibia. Reports claim that over 20,000 people had to live in temporary shelters and over 200,000 people have been affected. The floods caused by heavy rainfall have been responsible for extensive damage in the country including damage to crops and infrastructure.
It is estimated that the cost of damage might be millions of dollars, similar to the devastating floods caused in 2009 which were responsible for a total cost of $620 million. The government are flying in aid to help those affected.
