Landslides claim 23 lives in Uganda

Heavy rain in eastern Uganda has claimed the lives of 23 people. The landslides occurred on Monday 29th August affecting two villages in the Bulambuli district, 167 miles northeast of the capital Kampala. Officials claim that the death toll is likely to increase as more bodies are pulled out by the local Red Cross.

Recent heavy rain in Uganda has also caused flooding, which displaced hundreds of people. A landslide also occurred in north eastern Uganda earlier in August, claiming the lives of 7 people in a village.
